Leslie received her Masters of Physical Therapy in 1993 from Mt. St. Mary's College, in Los Angeles, after earning another Masters from the University of Oregon in Adapted Physical Education. Her first few years as a physical therapist found her doing therapy through rehabilitation centers (patients with primarily CVA, head injuries, joint replacements and spinal cord injuries). As a grad student at the U of O, she was part of the student athletic training program at South Eugene High School and U of O Club Sports.

The last three years she has been focusing her practice on manual therapy utilizing the osteopathic methods. She now works out of the Sports and Orthopaedic Medicine Center.

What does this mean to you? She will find your primary restriction/problem and treat that with hands-on methods enhanching your body's own capacity to heal itself. Often times, where your pain presents itself and where your body's dysfunction is located are not the same. She will use various techniques including strain/counterstrain, myofascial release, Cranial Sacral Technique, functional technique, muscle energy and visceral mobilization.

Once your body has improved mobility, we work as a team to provide a home program which maintains proper alignment, balance and equal strength throughout your body. Leslie likes to utilize closed chain activities that require little to no equipment for exercising. However, with her background in athletic training and competitive sports (swimming and soccer) she is available to assist in putting together a weight lifting exercise program using correct biomechanics.

Leslie also has had several years experience working with people with chronic pain - fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome and rheumetoid arthritis. She was trained in the YMCA/American Arthritis Foundation aquatic program and belongs to the Fibromyalgia Network.
